Bags, Essentials

Life is short, buy the bag

I’ve loved bags and backpacks for as long as I can remember. Not only can the right bag enhance an outfit, it can sometimes make the outfit.  We carry our lives in our bags, and we carry our image as well.  Maybe that’s why I grow tired of my bags every few months.

I think as our self-perception changes so do the visual cues we send to the world. Visual cues can act as a perceptional signal that controls where people look. Our bags and our accessories are part of the image we wear.

So it makes sense that as we add new experiences to our life’s portfolio we often become aware that the image we present to the world has to change, although sometimes we’re not actually aware until one day we find ourselves looking in a different direction for what we wear and how we act.

My bag obsession these days is with large boho-style crossbody travel bags with lots of pockets and room for everything I need for me and the dogs. These are great bags for summer travel and adventures and for casual trips to the park.

A place for everything and everything in its place.

The bag in the picture above is a handmade Moroccan kilim weekend duffel bag made from vintage kilim rugs and soft natural leather and designed by artisans in Rabat, Morocco. It’s fully lined and includes a zippered case, two side pockets and an adjustable crossbody strap.

I like how you tied in our perspective on life with the bag. Some baggage we need to leave behind so that we can embrace a new positive kind of baggage. Your colorful bag is a perfect example of great things in the future. What a beautiful analogy.
